After a couple days rest I gave it a go. I ran 8 miles and my calf didn't start hurting until about mile 4. I was going to do 10, but I cut it short. It wasn't too bad, but still sore. I will either run 3 tomorrow or ride the bike.
What kind of routine do you do on the bike? I miss my running, but want to keep exercising. Maybe I can do the bike while my knee heals... I see the ortho on Monday. I found out he is a runner.
If you want to run 5 miles, then ride 15 on the bike. A student told me to at least double it on the bike. You choose twice or thre times, what ever feels good to you.
I tried the bike today at the Y for about an hour. You are right, less pounding. Certainly worked up a sweat. The machine has a fancy video thingie attached to it that simulates a course with other riders. So I tried to challenge myself and speed on past...

ReplyDeleteIs the bike supposed to be less stress on the knees? Are you riding a road bike or a stationary bike?
ReplyDeleteI've done both. A bike doesn't create pounding on your knees. I would check to see if the motion bothers your knee however.
